Simple toolbox made from one sheet of Baltic Birch plywood.
Dimensions: 11” W x 18” H x 15” L
The slats that make up the toolbox lid have been cut in the same direction from one section of the plywood sheet to preserve a continuous grain pattern.
Top view with both lids closed.
Top view with both lids open.
The flexible lids swing open and can lie flat against the ground. A row of magnets underneath the handle support the lids in their closed position.
The entire toolbox is finished with spar urethane, which provides a tough barrier against moisture and UV damage.
Toolbox with full tool load. The canvas backed surfaces of the lids serve as a nice place for laying out small tools or workpieces.
All edges are left exposed to show the 1/2" 9-ply Birch plywood.
The lids are made from ½” wide slats glued to a canvas backing, similar to a tambour door. This construction allows the lids to be flexible and conform to the curved profile of the toolbox.
